NGMC ended: frontpage streak is insane!

Posted by 3manonMusic - 4 hours ago

Hi there! 3manon here. NGMC just ended, so I thought I'd share a quick word on it, because I've been very active throughout. Thanks @AED4 for hosting this btw, you're the best as always ;)

.

Round 1, made with @quintiviummusic. This was the most sound-design heavy track of them all. How quint does his sound design magic, like making his bass sound like a car engine and the color stabs in the second drop, is probably something I wouldn't be able to do in the next 6 years! I did most of the atmos work for it (specifically the break and the outtro) and I think I pulled that off quite well. Still, quint really carried me this round with the drops (this will be a reoccuring theme, woopsie)

.

Round 2: made with @arponax. This was the most fun round to work on! For a week we were struggling on how to tackle the beach theme, until he came with the idea of surf rock. And so we went for that! Arpie on the guitar and drums, me on the rhodes and saxophone, it all came together nicely, even though it's a track full of improvs, solos and jams! We had the idea of making it like a concert that plays at a grand prix at a beach, so we doubled down on it thanks to @voicesbycorey, who helped us set the scene!

.

Made with @solacitude, this was the most unexpected submission of all of them. The desert was chosen as fanservice, as people really struggled with the tropical theme from R2. So we had the ethnic sounds to out availability to make a beautiful composition out of it! Since I'm mainly a composer and Solacitude is mainly a pianist, we both weren't expecting the outcome to be trance and psytrance, but when he sent me a wip that went more in that direction we really went for it hard! I made the second half of the track, so the psytrance and and the outtro, and sola made the intro and first drop.

.

Round 4: made with @crispybatteryacid, this was definitely the round where I was carried the most. Because the first week I was in Berlin and the second week I had some important music assignments to do, I didn't really manage to get time to commit to this round ;-;. I made like only the saxophone in the drop, which also got heavily altered anyways. It still ended up great sounding! Crispy is insanely talented, especially for his age.

.

Round 5: made with @Everratic, this was the round that focussed on the theme the most. Because the theme was the solar system, we decided to make a rainbow road-like track and I'm really glad I got Everratic to work with me! He's insane at composition, as he basically layed the entire foundation of that. I orchestrated everything around it adding instruments, making the arrangement, etc. It was super fun to work on and I feel like it could easily play in a mario kart game!

.

I'm doing pretty well so far with the first 3 rounds' scores, but Idk how it will end yet! Very excited to see who will win, and thank you all for working together with me!
